Model Josie was adventurous enough to take a swim for this fine art photograph, wearing another vintage dress from my collection. This was shot in the late afternoon on the banks of beautiful Cypress Creek in Wimberley. I discovered this secluded spot on my morning walk and it’s pure magic. I shared it with only a chosen few; and recruited my model with this image in mind. Hand placement is super important and one of the things I have learned over the years to really watch – hands can look like claws if you’re not careful, or exquisitely beautiful when placed properly. I love the way the wet dress is clinging to her body and creating waves. The only thing I would change is to bring that left leg into view; it almost looks as if she’s missing the lower half of it! This is a good example of using “dynamic diagonals” in your imagery; her placement along the bank makes her look part of the landscape, and there is a nice tension provided by the opposite diagonal of the tree trunk in the left foreground.
